Key benefits
Why international families use Hong Kong trust services
Hong Kong trusts support asset protection for international families and multi-generational wealth transfer Hong Kong structures, administered by licensed TCSPs, not by this consultancy.
Asset protection for international families
Legal title sits with a licensed trustee so later personal claims are harder to attach, if the trust is genuine and not a last-minute dodge.
Multi-generational wealth transfer Hong Kong
A family trust can pace income and capital for children and grandchildren under a Hong Kong deed.
Probate that does not freeze every account
Assets already in a living trust need not wait on letters of administration in every country.
A licensed Hong Kong trustee, not a nominee stack
Hong Kong trust services are performed by AMLO-licensed TCSPs on the Companies Registry register.
Business shares that stay votable
A trustee or PTC can hold operating companies so a death does not paralyse the board.
Heirs in more than one tax country
One fiduciary can hold the pool while US, UK or Canadian reporting is done with local counsel.
An independent hong kong trust consultant
We shortlist licensed desks. You appoint the trustee. That is how to compare the best hong kong trust companies for your facts.

Why a Hong Kong trust
Why Families Consider a Hong Kong Trust
A Hong Kong trust is a Cap. 29 fiduciary: a licensed trustee holds legal title. Informal nominee stacks and unfunded wills often fail when assets, passports and courts sit in more than one country. Families looking for asset protection for international families or multi-generational wealth transfer Hong Kong typically start here, then instruct a licensed TCSP. Hong Kong Trust Consulting explains options; we do not act as trustee.
Estates that would otherwise open in several courts
A living trust can keep some assets out of a personal probate file when companies and accounts sit abroad.
A business that cannot pause for letters of administration
Shares need a living decision-maker. A trustee or PTC can hold voting rights with a succession plan.
Heirs who do not share one tax residence
One fiduciary can hold the pool while US, Canadian or European reporting is handled with local counsel.
Decisions if health or capacity changes
A trustee already appointed can continue administration when banks will not honour a foreign power of attorney.
Lawful distance from later claims
Value can be held for descendants rather than in a personal name, never as a last-minute dodge of existing creditors.
A planned move of tax residence
Timing before UK, US or other residence can still matter. UK excluded-property rules changed from 6 April 2025.

How we match you with licensed Hong Kong trust companies
The value is the quality of the vetted TCSP partners, not a generic directory. We only introduce firms licensed under AMLO (Cap. 615) that fit your asset type, language and onboarding risk.
Assessment of your family and assets
We map goals, jurisdictions and whether a family, discretionary, PTC or other vehicle is even appropriate.
Vetted TCSP shortlist (quality first)
We filter the official Hong Kong Companies Registry TCSP register for licensed trustees with the right desk, private client, EBT, PTC administration, not the first advertiser.
Introduction to compliance, not a sales queue
You meet the firm’s CDD team. KYC is theirs. You appoint them. We never take legal title.

Hong Kong trust FAQ
Hong Kong trust services, explained honestly
Who is the best Hong Kong trust company?
There is no single best Hong Kong trust company for every family. Hong Kong Trust Consulting is an independent consultancy. We help you compare licensed TCSPs on the Companies Registry register. We do not act as trustee and we are not ourselves a trust company.
What are Hong Kong trust services?
Hong Kong trust services typically include forming and administering a Hong Kong trust under the Trustee Ordinance (Cap. 29), with KYC/CDD performed by a licensed TCSP. Execution must be handled by a licensed firm, not by this consultancy.
How does Hong Kong Trust Consulting work?
We provide a free assessment, shortlist licensed TCSPs suited to your structure, and introduce you to their compliance team. You appoint the trustee. We never hold assets or issue a TCSP licence.
Why set up a Hong Kong trust?
Families often want a licensed fiduciary for multi-country probate, business succession, later-life capacity, or heirs living abroad. A Hong Kong trust is not legal or tax advice by itself. Hong Kong Trust Consulting compares licensed TCSPs; we do not act as trustee.
Who can act as a Hong Kong trustee?
A person carrying on trust or company service business in Hong Kong generally needs a TCSP licence from the Companies Registry under AMLO. Unlicensed trustee businesses can be an offence. Lawyers and accountants may be exempt when acting in professional capacity. We are not a licensee.
How long is a TCSP licence valid?
A TCSP licence is typically valid for three years and may carry conditions. Licensees must keep fit-and-proper controllers, appoint a compliance officer and MLRO, and follow CDD and five-year record-keeping rules.
What is a Letter of Wishes?
A non-binding note from the settlor to the trustee about how they hope discretion will be used. It is not the deed. Trustees of a discretionary trust still decide distributions.
Hong Kong trust vs a will, what is the difference?
A will speaks on death and usually goes through probate. A living Hong Kong trust can hold assets while you are alive. Many families use both. Neither replaces tax or matrimonial advice.
Does Hong Kong have estate duty?
Hong Kong abolished estate duty for deaths on or after 11 February 2006. That does not remove UK, US or other estate or inheritance taxes on situs assets or long-term residents. Instruct counsel in each country.
What does a Hong Kong trust cost?
Licensed TCSPs quote setup and annual fees based on assets, complexity and KYC risk. We do not set those fees. A free assessment helps you see which desks are even relevant before you pay a retainer to the wrong firm.
Can a settlor keep investment control?
Some Hong Kong deeds reserve defined investment powers. Reserved control can affect asset-protection analysis. That is a legal-design question for counsel and the licensed trustee, not a slogan.
Are you the best hong kong trust companies list?
No public ranking of “best hong kong trust companies” fits every family. We are an independent hong kong trust consultant. We compare licensed TCSPs; we do not publish a paid league table and we do not act as trustee.
